An emotional vigil in Detroit as family and friends demand justice for a 5-year old girl who was shot and killed.

The girl's mother was also shot and is now fighting for her life in the hospital.

"Let us be the light that this candle represents Lord God, even in our heartache," said a pastor at Monday's vigil. "Even in our grief and yes, even in our anger."

Candles should never be lit for a 5-year-old.

"She was a beautiful baby," said Ke'li Coleman, the victim's grandmother. "She was smart and loved life. And this, whoever he was, took it from her."

Isabella or 'Izzy' as she was known, was shot to death in her home. Her mother, Deja Coleman, was also critically wounded as they slept.

Then as police executed a search warrant at a relative's home, Detrich Driver was shot by police who say he was armed with an AK-47. But family members see it differently.

"They came down and kicked the door in and killed a baby," said Fayette Coleman, the great-grandmother of the victim. "Now how is that helping us."

In the days that followed rumors emerged that this was the result of a family feud, began swirling. A vigil on Detroit's west side outside driver's home on Evergreen, proved otherwise.

"If you look at our beautiful family right now, we are covering two lawns," said one woman. "Showing a united front for my grandbaby and for my brother-in-law."

Family and friends comforted each other in their time of loss - remembering the 5-year-old girl. Her mother who is still in the hospital and an uncle shot and killed by police.

"There is no grief like the loss of a child," said the pastor. "Like a loss of a relative, so we pray for peace."

The killer of the 5-year-old remains on the loose. Police initially took two people into custody.

They have since been released and police now ask for anyone with information to give them a call.
