Police recover endangered missing 8-year-old girl from Taylor home

UPDATE (9 p.m.): Michigan State Troopers entered a Taylor home and removed an 8-year-old girl who had been missing, believed to have been taken by her father.

Janna Marie Lewis' father refused to surrender her and MSP waited until it had a warrant to go in and remove her at about 9 p.m. Her father, Michael Lewis, is under arrest after being removed from the home.

A heavy Michigan State Police presence had been gathered outside the Taylor residence in connection to the missing girl from Trenton Wednesday night. Michael Lewis refused to let troopers in, which led to police securing a search warrant, FOX 2's Jessica Dupnack reports.

An endangered missing advisory was issued earlier this morning for the girl who was with her father, 40-year-old Michael Lewis. He failed to follow a court order and return her to her grandmother in Trenton.

Officers were believed to be waiting for a search warrant before going into the Kensington Street house, in the area of Telegraph and Goddard.  Police were milling around outside waiting for the warrant and it was not a standoff.

Family on both sides tell FOX 2 that there has been an ongoing custody battle over the girl between her father and maternal grandmother.
