Tasting Notes: Eagle Rare Talisomon - This wine speaks to this place. One of the first vineyards planted on our Elm Valley Estate. Many of the vines are own rooted, planted in the early 1980's. This wine was aged for one year in a bourbon barrel before re-fermenting in the bottle. 2017 Mille -Vintage Mawby - A true taste of the vintage. The Mille 2017 is made from 100% Pinot Noir from the Leelanau Peninsula. Aged for 5+ years in tirage this wine is rich and elegant. Include Mille 2017 with other premium Champagnes for a great blind tasting experience with your wine geek friends. Toast – Bubbles and Oak - Toast is a Cuvee Close Method bubbly made from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. This sparkling wine is a combination of rich, buttery, oaky Chardonnay characteristics and delicate, crisp sparkling wine. Burbon Barrel Redd - Dry Bourbon Barrel Aged Ultra-unique, this wine displays light red fruits layered with rich vanilla and bourbon notes. This wine is medium bodied but finishes full on the palate. About Mawby Vineyards Larry Mawby founded L. Mawby Vineyards in 1973 with a parcel of land and a personal promise to make the best wines he could while respecting mother earth. Over the years his passion for sparkling wine developed with the realization that such styles are best suited for the Northern Michigan climate and growing region. Brothers Michael and Peter Laing, who combined have over 25 years of experience at MAWBY have taken the reigns to lead Mawby in to the future. The MAWBY vision remains the same as when Larry founded the company; to create the finest sparkling wines while respecting the land. “MAWBY” is a sparkling wine experience with vineyards and a tasting room located in the rolling coastal hills of Leelanau County adjacent to Lake Michigan. MAWBYness is a feeling of being, an everyday celebration, and a toast to life excluding none. All MAWBY sparkling wines and ciders are produced by fermenting two times to standards perfected over many years. The second fermentation takes place in a closed vessel, and produces a natural effervescence (MAWBY wines are not carbonated). MAWBY produces a range of sparkling wines with tastes to suit most any palate, each uniquely approachable, with their own personality and purpose.

"A Run to the River"
Former teacher, coach AND author, Ron Glodich and he will be bringing Parker Atkinson and Finley Hatcher. Finley came up with the idea to have someone run and jump in the river, and the idea avalanched and became this incredible project. This my first year having Finley in class and she is so creative. Parker used to be the water boy for the team, is now a senior football player, and is in my Business 2 class. He took the lead when they ran to the river. He is also one of the most genuine students I’ve ever had. Website also gives some insight into the book and contains some blogs into his writing. Ronglodich.com
