17th Annual Detroit Greek Independence Day Parade March 25
(WJBK) - The community celebrates Greek culture every year in honor of Greek Independence Day.
The 17th Annual Detroit Greek Independence Day Parade is Sunday, March 25 at 3 p.m. in Greektown. The family-friendly parade features traditional Greek dancers and musicians, handmade floats by local schools and businesses, a variety of church and non-profit groups, collegiate groups, characters from The Parade Company's Big Head Corp., and more.
Yanni Dionisopoulos joined us on The Nine to tell us more about the celebration, along with Chef Raymond Shveida from The Golden Fleece to show us how to make Avgolemono, or Greek egg lemon soup.
You can hear from them in the video player above, and get the soup recipe here.
