Teaching kids knife skills and safety
(WJBK) - Sharp knives can be intimidating for anyone, but especially for parents to hand over to a kid.
Teaching kids knife skills is important, though, and it's important to start young. If kids haven't learned safe, proper knife skills, they will be stuck in bad habits that will be really hard to escape.
Katie Kimball, Kids Healthy Cooking Teacher, joined us on The Nine to show us how to teach kids proper knife skills. She says research show not giving kids "real" tools at an early age, is like waiting to potty train until the age of 6.
Katie says she started her kids at age 2 with a butter knife.
