2 kids injured, 1 adult killed in shooting near City Airport

Two children have been rushed to the hospital after a shooting on Detroit's east side. Detroit Police say one adult man was also shot and killed.

Detroit Police say the shooting happened in a green van around 7:40 a.m. in the 11000 block of Sanford, which is near Conner Street and the Coleman A. Young International Airport.

Detroit Police Commander Eric Decker said a 10-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were hurt in the shooting. He said the girl was shot in the shoulder and is in stable condition at this time. The teen boy was hurt by some bullet fragments on the side of his face.

He said a third child, a 12-year-old boy, was also in the van but wasn't hurt.

Police say the adult was standing outside of the van by the driver's side door when somebody started shooting at him. He was hit and killed in the street. The driver's side window was shot out of the van.

Cmdr. Decker said the mother came out of the home and drove the van with the injured children to Children's Hospital.

Police don't have much of a description of the suspects at this time, but say they're looking for two men in dark clothing.

Police say the male victim is in his 30s but haven't given his name, or the names of the children.
