Bodies of 2 lost men in Port Huron's Black River recovered
PORT HURON, Mich. (WJBK) - WEB UPDATE (9:30): The bodies of both men have been recovered in Port Huron's Black River Wednesday night.
A boat collision was reported at about 2:30 p.m. today, when 911 dispatch received a call of someone in the water near the I-94 bridge. A man who was going by in a pontoon boat saw the first man in the water. He jumped in to try to help, but also disappeared under the water, according to the St. Clair County Sheriffs.
The U.S. Coast Guard sent a boat, along with a boat from the Port Huron Police Department. They were unable to locate either man using special sonar equipment..
The incident has gone from a search and rescue operation to a recovery operation. The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office Dive Team has divers in the water at this time. A second dive team boat is using sonar in an attempt to locate the two men.
The identities of the missing people have not been released yet.
