3-year-old boy, shot in head has died - mom says
RIVER ROUGE, Mich. (WJBK) - The three-year-old boy who was shot during a drive by in River Rouge Sunday morning has died, the boy's mother told FOX 2.
Three-year-old Jamar Lee Quinn Jr was shot in the head while he was sleeping Saturday night. He was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries and had surgery Sunday.
FOX 2 learned from his mother, Danielle Davis, that the boy died Monday.
Jamar was sleeping around 2:45 Sunday morning when someone drove by and started shooting. The bullet came from the back of the house, according to police.
"We were all sleeping and all I heard was pow, pow, pow pow pow, and my baby rolled over, blood everywhere, and it's sad, we all stay in the same community, we can't even come together for stuff like this. My baby's suffering, he's innocent, and it's hard, it's hard for me it's hard for my family, I can't do nothing but put it in God’s hands," Davis said.
As the boy was in the hospital, the home was firebombed. Nobody was inside the home at the time of the firebombing.
We're told bullets were sprayed into the home another time, just about two weeks ago.
Police haven't released any information about the suspect or suspects at this time.
If you have any information about the shooting or the alleged firebombing, you're asked to contact police. You can also give your information anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
