Bodybuilder held on $5M bond for attempted murder, found with human growth hormone

WASHINGTON Twp, Mich. (WJBK) - A Washington Township man arrested and accused of trying kill his girlfriend was also found carrying several drugs including cocaine, meth, and human growth hormone.

Paul Bashi, 35, was arrested Sunday by Macomb County Sheriff Deputies after they were called to a home on a report of an assault. 

The caller told deputies that a man had left the home in a car but that a victim was lying on the porch. Deputies found the woman injured and bleeding from multiple puncture wounds to her and right side of her body.

Nobody else was inside the home but deputies found several controlled substances. 

Bashi was found down a street nearby and deputies said he had blood on him when they found him. He was arrested and is currently behind bars in the Macomb County Jail on one count of assault to murder, one count of controlled substance with intent to deliver/manufacture. Deputies said they found marijuana, methamphetamine, ecstasy, and cocaine. 

They also said they found a substance known as 'Jintropin' which is supplement that contains human growth hormone. The female victim is in stable condition in the hospital.

Bashi is a bodybuilder listed on National Physique Committee's website from the NPC Universe Championships.

In 2010, he was convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and spent 5 months on probation. 

He's being held on a $5 million bond and must be on a tether if he is released on bond. He's due back in court on Aug. 14.
