Chilling testimony against Larry Nassar continues as dozens speak
(WJBK) - He was once one of the top doctors in his field, and now Larry Nassar could spend the rest of his life in prison for sexually assaulting young girls.
Chilling testimony continues Wednesday in Lansing as his brave victims face Nassar before he's sentenced for his crimes.
"You deceived me, you manipulated me, and you abused me. I truly believe that you're the spawn of Satan," said Jeanette Antolan.
Nassar's sentencing hearing began yesterday and is expected to last 3 more days. The former doctor for Michigan State University and USA gymnastics pleaded guilty to seven counts of criminal sexual conduct last year.
"Since you've decided to tell the truth about sexually assaulting an army of young women I am choosing to stand tall with them and fight back. The army you chose in the late 90's to silence me, to dismiss me, and my attempt at speaking the truth, will not prevail over the army you created when violating us," said Tiffany Thomas.
More than 140 women have accused Nassar of sexual abuse under the appearance of providing medical treatment. This past Monday, gold medalist Simone Biles said she was among them.
Several of them bravely shared their chilling stories in court.
"I still remember feeling his hands, I still remember clenching from his touch, and I still remember him saying it's OK, I know you're not used to being touched there but it will feel better. I remember that moment I realized I had been molested by somebody I trusted, that I was one of the gymnasts he had abused, and that my life was never going to be the same," Gwen Anderson said.
Nassar pleaded guilty to committing the sexual misconduct acts at his Michigan State University office, his home, and a Lansing area gymnastics club. He also worked for Indianapolis-based USA Gymnastics, which trains Olympians.
The final sentence is expected to be handed down Friday.
