Danielle Stislicki's family's plea hours before Galloway sentenced for attempted rape
(WJBK) - A person of interest in the missing Danielle Stislicki case was sentenced Friday in a separate case involving the sexual assault of a jogger in Hines Park.
Floyd Galloway Jr. was accused of attacking a 28-year-old female jogger on September 4, 2016 in Hines Park. She told police a man grabbed her, and strangled her as he dragged her down an embankment. Able to fight him off, she called police.
As part of a plea deal, Galloway has pleaded guilty to kidnapping; intent to commit criminal sexual conduct; and assault by strangulation. He was sentenced to 16-35 years in prison.
Galloway is also a person if interest in the disappearance of Danielle Stislicki, who went missing December 2, 2016. It was reported the 28-year-old woman was last seen with Galloway, who was a security guard at her job in Southfield.
Person of interest in Stislicki case accepts plea deal in Hines Park jogger case
Just hours before Galloway's sentencing, the Stislicki family released a statement on social media.
"It is our belief, through contact with others over this past year and his demonstrated behavior that he is habitual/serial. Witnesses claim he was seen with Danielle Ann Stislicki, on December 2nd 2016 after work. His refusal to verbally acknowledge or discount witnesses, by pleading the 5th regarding that day is highly suspect," the statement reads.
The family is asking that other victims will find the courage to come forward, knowing they are safe now that Galloway is behind bars.
"We are thankful and proud that one victim survived, and was able to find the strength and courage to press charges. We hope others that have "survived", will also come forward," the statement continued.
Family members attended the sentencing Friday morning.
Galloway has not been charged in connection with Stislicki's disappearance.
