Democratic candidates use NAACP stage as precursor for next weeks debates

DETROIT (FOX 2) - It was a star-studden lineup Wednesday afternoon as nine Democratic presidential candidates and one Republican spoke at the NAACP convention.

While using the forum as a Q&A, many candidates also took advantage of the added air time as preparation for the Democratic debate that's hosted in Detroit next week.

Many candidates made efforts for newsworthy soundbites.

Southbend Mayor Pete Buttigiege said "we need to create a new normal" in the next election.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders called President Trump an "overt racist."

New Jersey Senator Corey Booker discussed his reparations bill he's sponsoring and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar restated her belief impeachement proceedings against the president should begin.
