Driver killed after car crashes into tree, catches fire

DETROIT (WJBK) - Authorities are investigating a fatal accident that happened on the city's west side overnight. 

Police say they saw a driver speed by, and attempted to locate the vehicle possibly to pull it over. When they caught up with the car, though, they say it was too late. Police say the driver had already crashed into a tree, and the vehicle caught fire. 

One man was killed in the crash. Police have not yet identified him. 

Nobody else was hurt. 

The crash happened in the 7200 block of Warwick Street, which is near Warren Avenue and Southfield Road.
