Search for suspected gunman in Oakland County prompts school closings
ORTONVILLE, Mich. (WJBK) - Authorities are continuing to search for a suspect throughout Oakland County after two people were critically wounded in a shooting Tuesday night in Ortonville.
Police are looking for 34-year-old Michael Quigley in connection with the shooting. The shooting happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday at an apartment in Ortonville on Village Court. A man and a woman were injured and rushed to the hospital.
The victims were listed in critical condition but have since been upgraded to stable condition.
Police say the female victim is the suspect's wife, and that she had just recently filed for divorce. Police wouldn't go into detail about who the male victim is.
Neighbors called 911 after hearing several shots at the apartment complex. Police have been looking for Quigley ever since, and told people in the community to lock their doors and stay inside.
A number of schools are also closed Wednesday as a result of the ongoing search. Brandon School District, Clarkston Community Schools and Oxford Community Schools are closed, just to name a few. You can see the full list of school closures at www.fox2detroit.com/closings.
If you see and recognize Quigley, you're asked to call police immediately and remember that he is likely armed.
