Man dies in shooting at apartment building on Detriot's west side

Detroit police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened Thursday morning on the city's west side.

Police say a 49-year-old was killed after he was shot twice in the chest. The shooting happened just before 8:30 a.m. in the 19300 block of Greenfield, which is just north of Seven Mile Road.

Police aren't sure right now of the reason behind the shooting.

We spoke with a witness who said she was sitting in the parking lot of her apartment when she heard two gunshots -- then saw her neighbor running toward her.

"He stood in front of my car and he said that someone had shot him, and he said that it was a neighbor. And then that's when I seen [sic] him, you know, collapse," says Shaunterius Johnson.

That man was pronounced dead when he arrived at the hospital. Police haven't yet given the victim's name.

Police also have not yet given any information about the suspect.
