Man found shot to death in driveway on Ohio Street in Detroit

DETROIT (WJBK) - Detroit Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Monday morning on Detroit's northwest side.

Police say a 32-year-old man was found dead in the driveway in the 18000 block of Ohio Street, which is near Curtis Street and Wyoming Avenue. Police say the man was found shot multiple times.

Family members at the scene have identified the victim to us as 32-year-old Deantai Box. They tell us Box was the proud and first-time owner of a florist in Lathrup Village. His aunt tells us Box would donate flowers to funerals if the family couldn't afford them.

She says Box was very caring a loving, and can't imagine why anyone would want to harm or kill him. She says Box had also been looking after a friend who is in the final stages of cancer.

Police say they don't have much information about the suspect or suspects at this time, but that they're talking to witnesses who heard the gunshots. The shooting happened at approximately 7:20 a.m. Monday.
