Family: Missing Melvindale man David Carter's body found
MELVINDALE, Mich. (WJBK) - The family of David Carter says his body has been found.
The 39-year-old Melvindale father has been missing for five days, but his family told FOX 2 in a text message that his body was discovered Wednesday night. Police have not officially confirmed the report.
It is unknown if it was foul play at this time. Carter's body was found in the area of the Gale Garden Apartments on Gale Blvd. No one had heard from him since Saturday.
"You never think that something like this can happen to you," said Elton Carter, David's father. "You see it on TV but you never think it is going to happen to your family. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
"We pretty much knew what was coming, but you can't say anything unl;ess you know for sure. We don't have to wonder anymore, we don't."
The discovery was something his family feared. Foul play was suspected but Melvindale police said earlier on Wednesday it was too soon to reach that conclusion.
"I just remember going bowling with him all the time," said David Jr., his son. "Going out to eat with him after a football game, going over to his house and playing Madden with him. Every memory was always a good time.
"My dad always told me just keep grinding no matter what. Anything happens, just keep grinding. Anything happens, get back, get over it and keep grinding."
There are still many unanswered questions regarding the circumstances of David Carter's death. We expect to hear more as police continue their investigation.
