Monroe County 21-year-old wins $1.8M in Michigan Lottery
DETROIT (WJBK) - A 21-year-old Monroe County woman just had her entire future changed after winning almost $2 million in the Michigan Lottery.
The woman, who is staying anonymous, stopped by the Stop and Run in Monroe earlier this month and picked six for the Lotto 47 numbers. She won two bucks so she bought another ticket.
She took the new ticket and put it in her purse and forgot about it for a few days - not knowing she was about to be a millionaire.
"I was at the store with my sister when I found the ticket and scanned it on the Lucky Spot. It said to see the retailer, so I had the clerk scan it and she told me I had to go to Lansing. I got a printout of the numbers and handed it to my sister. She read the first three numbers off the printout, and I read the last three off my ticket. That’s when I knew I had won and we started screaming and celebrating!”
On Wednesday, she made that trip to Lansing where she claimed her prize in a lump sum of $1.1 million. A million dollars richer, she plans to buy a new car, a new home, and then invest what's left.
“Winning at such a young age gives me a real sense of security to start my adult life debt free,” the player said.
