The DIA theater set the stage for Detroit native and Grammy winning songwriter Allee Willis' debut of the D --- a song and music video five years in the making.

Willis hopes it becomes the city's unofficial theme song. About 5,000 Detroiters played a role in the video that recorded more than thousand hours of footage and features prominent landmarks, companies and organizations.

Detroiters of practically every stripe celebrated the city and their role in it during Wllis' premiere party - and tonight their voices were clear.

Watch the video above for a sample of the new song and video.
