If you are a dog owner looking for love, there is a new way to connect in metro Detroit.

The app is called Dig and it is all about compatibility for you and your canines.

"I'm the CEO and co-founder of Dig - the dog person's dating app," said Leigh Isaacson.

Leigh Isaacson and her sister, Casey, are launching Dig all over the country - because, they say, your pup is such an important part of your life - just like your potential partner.

"Dig is a dating app for people who love dogs and have dogs," Isaacson said. "It's a niche dating app but it's a huge community of people looking for someone who is going to match their compatibility, their lifestyle, their love for dogs."

Get the app - log in and look for someone with or without a dog. Then plan a dog friendly date - in Detroit - although that can sometimes be a challenge.

"There's not too many dog parks or dog activities down here," said Heather Bildner. "It's getting started but it's not totally there yet."

But the app can give you more options - so Heather can take her dog Coco along on her outings.

"I think it's pretty important when you have a dog in your life," Bildner said. "Because they're a big part of it."

Ken Barry's dog Maya is a big part of his life.

"This is Maya she's a 4 1/2-year-old Australian Shepherd," he said.

He says the app could create new opportunities for lots of people.

"I think it's kind of a really unique idea," he said. "It's a new world where dogs are integral to a lot of people's lives.

It's not always going to be a perfect match - but could be a chance to connect with someone special - a new friend - or something more.

"I think the app is also applicable to people who are not just crazy dog people," said Kristen Ige. "But for example if I just want to meet people in the city and didn't want to leave my dog alone, or if I wanted to socialize my dog as well it would be great to go and have my dog meet other people and if they have other dogs, too."
