Lockdown lifted in police situation at Beaumont Troy

A police situation caused a brief lockdown at Beaumont Hospital in Troy Friday.

Troy police said it was investigating a threat complaint at the hospital in a domestic incident and that it is not an active shooter situation. The hospital initiated the lockdown.

The investigation centered around a social media threat by a boyfriend of a patient at the hospital, at 19 Mile and Dequindre.

A hospital spokesperson said in a statement that there was "an active threat of violence."

"Due to active threat of violence, Beaumont Troy is currently on lockdown, visitors can leave but wont be permitted back in. Patients who arrive via ambulance, have life threatening injuries or are in labor are permitted only through the Emergency entrance," the hospital said in a statement.

A recent police situation happened Wednesday night at Beaumont Dearborn when a Melvindale man chased his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend and shot at him. The chase ended outside the hospital where the suspect later died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after being cornered by police.
