Downtown Detroit Opening Day power outage restored

WEB UPDATE: DTE Energy said that by 6 p.m.the power was restored.

DTE is reporting a power outage in downtown Detroit on Opening Day for the Detroit Tigers

The utility said there was a cable failure at their downtown substation. The outage as affected a few buildings, including the Fox Theater complex. It happened around the 4th inning of the game.

Many bars, restaurants, homes and businesses were all in the dark. For one particular couple, it was a scary incident when they found themselves trapped in an elevator.

"We panicked, we panicked," said one woman. "We had to save air."

Everyone ended up okay. On their outage map, a yellow shape shades over part of the city, affecting roughly 580 customers. Comerica Park however, remained on.

Lights appear to be coming back on at establishments like Hockeytown, however it's unclear when ever outage will be fixed.
