Ten millionth Mustang rolls off Ford assembly line

FLAT ROCK, Mich. (WJBK) - Ford Motor Company celebrated a major milestone Wednesday. Its ten millionth Mustang rolled off the assembly line. 

Mustangs from across the decades gathered in the parking lot at the Flat Rock assembly plant Wednesday morning, to coordinate a "10,000,000" figure as seen from the sky. Perhaps that's another major milestone in itself, too. 

Sixty Mustangs helped create the figure. Mustang Chief Engineer Carl Wadman tells us, too, the first and newest Mustang - Number 10,000,000, were used as the commas. 

The iconic car has been around for 54 years now.

"It's a big celebration for everybody who's ever driven one, anybody who's family's had one; we've got people who have had cars in the family for three generations," Wadman says. 

FOX 2's Josh Landon was there as the ten millionth car drove out, a 2019 Wimbledon White GT V8 six-speed manual convertible. You can watch as it arrives in the video player above. 

And, just in case you're wondering, that particular car isn't for sale but Wadman says a similar one will run you about $50,000. 

Mustang is the best-selling sports car of the last 50 years in the U.S. and the world's top-selling sports car for three years in a row.
