Metro Detroiter's react to the Texas mass shooting

At least 26 people have been killed in Texas after a gunman opened fire at a church outside San Antonio on Sunday, authorities say. 

In Metro Detroit, parishioners react outside the Shrine of the Little Flower Catholic Church in Royal Oak. They are shocked and in disbelief.

"There has to be some sort of mental breakup somewhere in there, there's no rational explanation," parishioner Joan said.  

The mass shooting was reported at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, which is about 30 miles southeast of San Antonio. A witness told KSAT that a man walked into the church about 11:30 a.m. Sunday and opened fire at the crowd of people. 

Law enforcement has identified the shooter as 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelley. It has not been confirmed if the gunman killed himself or was killed by police.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton told Fox News that, based on reports, up to 27 people were killed and "many more" were wounded.

"We have accepted a multiple number of patients from the shooting," Megan Posey, a spokeswoman for Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville, 15 miles from church, told Fox News. She said doctors were assessing the patients.
