Fall fun at Pankiewicz Cider Mill
(WJBK) - Summertime in St. Clair County is about the river but this time of year it's all about the apples.
To sample some of Michigan's finest, FOX 2's Rich Luterman headed to Pankiewicz Cider Mill near I-94 and 29 Mile Road in Casco Township.
"We've got a truck farm, produce, pumpkins, apples, squash, all kinds of goodies, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant. And then we have a 3 1/2 acre apple orchard. We grow apples and we've got some pears and plums also," said owner Stan Pankiewicz.
Growing good apples requires a lot of TLC and Stan says not everybody can do it.
"It takes a certain expertise and patience, and a lot of prayer," he says.
There's so much to eat, smell, taste and experience at Pankiewicz Cider Mill but the real treasure in St. Clair County is the apple.
"I come here all the time because they are the best and they have the best pricing," said Lori Schell.
Sharon Pankiewicz says their donuts are the best and made onsite, along with their cider.
"I make all the pies myself and we just love it - this is what we do," she said.
