(WJBK) - We all know animals can bring a smile your face when you're feeling low.
Meet the latest Amy's Angels: Horses Heal Hearts, which is harnessing that power to bring healing to the families in need. It's a nonprofit charity that works to shine a light into the lives of people facing personal darkness.
Joining FOX 2 is Dave Zarek and Tim Scarberry with more.
The program brings loving, well-trained horses to people who need them, like families dealing with a loved one's critical illness, community members struggling with financial problems, or children of parents struggling with addiction.
It all began when the program first visited the family of a local fallen police officer, the grieving loved ones of West Bloomfield Police Officer Patrick O'Rouke. The program says the widow told them the sun shone and the clouds cleared for that period of time--and the visit was a reprieve for the family unlike any other.
