The most precious cargo in your car is your child - or someone else's - so make sure they're buckled in right!

The latest recommendations from the American Academy of Pediatrics released last week have brought on a new wave of confusion regarding how long children should stay in rear-facing car seats.

The American Academy of Pediatrics used to recommend rear-facing seating for children like Joseph until at least two years old. Now under new guidelines, the organization urges that kids remain rear-facing until they reach the seat's maximum height and weight limit - even if they're four years old.

For new parents, grandparents, or just current parents - everything is different.

Renee Zarr, the Safety Expert for The Children's Hospital of Michigan's Kohl's SAFE 4 Kids Program, was in studio Monday to talk about the right way to keep your kids safe on the road.
