Youth sports can be an emotionally and financially draining experience for parents. 

Even before school starts, many young athletes are starting preseason practices, and playing youth sports isn't cheap. It can cost families thousands of dollars or more every month, potentially jeopardizing short and long-term financial plans. 

Local financial expert Kirk Cassidy visited the Fox2 News studio Sunday morning with his son, Trae, to discuss the financial pitfalls of participating in youth sports, and to provide some tips on how to balance participation without breaking the bank.
