This week is Mental Illness Awareness Week, and Thursday, October 6 is National Depression Screening Day.

Considering one in five adults experience mental illness problems every year, it's important to talk about getting help when you or someone you love needs it. Although many people understand that mental illness is a medical condition, individuals and families affected by mental illness are still often subjected to stigma and discrimination.

Jill Blackson, Deputy Director at Community Care Services, joined us on The Nine to talk to us about mental illnesses. You can learn more by watching her segment in the video player above.
