MILFORD, Mich. (WJBK) - You don't have to travel far to enjoy one of the 13 metro parks in southeast Michigan. In Milford, Kensington Metro Park is one of them, and it has many various acitivites from golfing, a petting farm, a spalsh park, water slides to even boating.
With the summer heat upon us, FOX 2's Jessica Starr headed to the park to see what the boating section was all about.
"In our cover weve got row boats, both v bottom and flat bottom, and some of our flat bottom boats have live wells in them," explains boat rental manager, Darrin Rupp. "We have our character boats, which are ducks, swans and new this this year, the dragon."
They also have paddle boats, kayaks and stand up paddle boards and canoes for rentals.
The boat rentals are an hour long.
"We make sure all our guests when they go out on the boat have personal floating devices on," says Rupp. "We take them into our life vest room and get them all sized properly, from little ones all the way up to adults. We make sure they fit securly and snuggly, and take them out to the boats."
There are some rules to follow, too. Swimming is not allowed from the boats and you're not allowed to go on any of the islands of the lake. Drinking is not allowed either.
