Preston Welborne's dream finally came true.

He's been working on his short film the past 6 months, and it was finally premiered before a packed house at the University of Michigan Detroit.

The accomplishment is just one of many for Preston, which convinced the FOX 2 Honor Roll judges as the next inductee.

He's been making films since he was 7 years old, and now he's a senior at the Detroit School of Arts.

He works with groups dedicated to diversity and inclusion, like Michigan Round Table, and the group We The People of Detroit. He recently mediated a gathering with representatives of the United Nations at an Indian reservation in the Upper Peninsula.

"The way I was raised was to be nice to everybody regardless. As I grew up, I saw everybody aws not like that, even some of the people that taught me to be like that. And so I said, I want to be different," he says.
