Silent auction and fundraiser held for local police officer with terminal brain cancer
(FOX 2) - A local police officer who has spent his life in service of his country is now in need of community thoughts, prayers and donations.
Dave Imber was a platoon leader in Iraq and a member of the law enforcement squad in Lathrup Village. However, almost a year ago in March, he was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Tumor, a form of brain cancer. While the tumor was removed, Dave's illness is terminal. He's undergoing chemo and radiation treatments daily.
Married and a father of two, the 37-year-old spent 13 years in the military. While he is still currently serving, only 80 percent of his treatment is covered by military medical insurance.
Which is why a silent and Chinese auction is being held Wednesday, Jan. 23 to help raise money for Dave. There's also a Spaghetti dinner fundraiser Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. at the American Legion Post.
Even with the slippery roads, if you want to make it out, the fundraiser is held at 3265 W. Grand River, Howell.
