1 dead, 2 injured after 'random' shooting in Oxford on Christmas Eve

1 person is dead, and two others were injured after a ‘random’ shooting in Oxford on Christmas Eve.

The shooting happened after 6:30 p.m. on Ray Road between Lapeer and N. Oxford Roads.

"At this point it appears that the terrible events of last night were completely random with the suspect just passing through the community when he went off on a violent spree at multiple locations. He is a convicted felon with multiple past weapons offenses and we intend to seek every possible charge against him. He is being held in our jail pending formal charges," Oakland County Sheriffs Office said in a social media news release.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office confirmed that one person was arrested, and a gun was recovered shortly after the shooting.
