15-year-old boy arrested after Monroe County police chase
MONROE COUNTY, Mich. (FOX 2) - A 15-year-old driver is in custody after a police chase Sunday night in Monroe.
What we know:
According to Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough, Lt. Jeffrey Ellington tried to stop a vehicle on E. Third Street, east of S. Monroe Street, around 8 p.m., but the driver fled, reaching speeds of 60 mph on the 25 mph street.
That pursuit was immediately terminated, authorities said, but another started moments later when officers with the Monroe Public Safety Department spotted the vehicle on Winchester Street near E. Elm Street.
Monroe County Deputy Sheriff Jacob Llewellyn joined the chase on northbound I-75 near Dixie. The driver continued into Frenchtown Township, authorities said, before returning to Monroe. He was caught when he pulled into a driveway on Navarre Street.
No one was hurt in the chase.
What's next:
The 15-year-old driver was arrested for fleeing and eluding, while his 13-year-old passenger was released to family members.
The driver is at the Monroe County Youth Center awaiting charges.

Authorities did not share the reason for the initial traffic stop. They also did not provide details about who owns the vehicle the teen was driving.
