2 found dead in house fire on Detroit-Hamtramck border
HAMTRAMCK, Mich. (WJBK) - Two people were found dead inside a house fire early Monday morning on the Detroit-Hamtramck border. A firefighter was also hurt.
Firefighters were called to the fire at 2931 Cody Street, which is near Joseph Campau Avenue and the Davison. During the search they found two victims burned badly on the second floor. Authorities aren't sure yet if the victims are male or female.
We're told the stairs were burned away so it's difficult to access the bodies for the investigation.
A firefighter also sustained an elbow injury when he or she fell through the floor.
Authorities aren't sure yet what caused the fire yet, and an arson team is investigating.
It appears the home was vacant, and neighbors tell us they believe squatters may have been in the home. Investigators have not yet confirmed this information.
