Teens hit by vehicle at Belle Isle beach

Two teen girls are in critical condition after they were hit by a vehicle Monday on Belle Isle beach. The driver fled but was later arrested in Detroit.

DETROIT (FOX 2) - Two girls are in critical condition after a vehicle drove onto the beach at Belle Isle and hit them Monday.

A 23-year-old Ypsilanti man fled the scene, but was later arrested on Detroit's west side, police said. The vehicle was also recovered.

According to police, the man was on Riverbank Drive when he drove off the road and onto the beach, hitting the 12- and 14-year-old girls.
