20th annual Detroit Tree Lighting entertainment announced ahead of holiday tradition
DETROIT (FOX 2) - This year's Detroit Tree Lighting includes performers from nationally known figure skaters and musicians.
The 20th annual tree lighting at Campus Martius will include the event Nov. 17, followed by free activities and entertainment all weekend long.
Skaters who will take to the rink include Nathan Chen, Daniel Palmeri, Anna Cobb, Annabelle Wilkins, and Brooklyn Wybo, along with figure skating clubs from the Metro Detroit area.
Musicians scheduled to perform include Miko Marks, Paul Russell, Talia Suskauer, Drey Skonie, Corrin Barnett and the gospel duo Tasha Page-Lockhart & Clifton Lockhart. Isis Damil and John Paul Wallace will perform a festive duet, Ballinger Entertainment dancers present a hip hop Nutcracker, while the Archdiocese of Detroit choir with Rooted conducted by Dr. William S. Harrison, Sr., and The Redhouse Band under the direction of Darell "Red" Campbell Jr.
Activities include the Downtown Detroit Markets set up in Cadillac Square, the Cadillac Lodge, carriage rides, and more.
Tree lighting festivities will be held from 4-9 p.m.
Weekend events include Santa's Skate Party from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, an Ugly Holiday Sweater Party from 6-11 p.m. Saturday, and a Frozen Skate Party from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
