REDFORD TWP., Mich. (FOX 2) - Police are investigating the death of a 5-year-old child inside a Redford Township motel Tuesday morning.
The girl was found inside a room at Inn America on the east side of Telegraph, north of I-96.
The cause of the death is unknown. An adult was inside at the time, but it is unknown what the person's relationship was with the child, said Redford police.
The cause of death is under investigation, an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
According to police, the little girl was with her mother's boyfriend at the motel. Around 9:30 police were called to a report of the girl not breathing.
Police said that officers and firefighters performed CPR on the child, who died at the hospital.
The manager said the girl's family had been staying there, but it is not known how long. Police said it is an active investigation.
According to police, the boyfriend is in custody but has not been charged.
