Ambulance crashes into utility pole on Detroit's west side

First responders are on scene at an accident involving an ambulance on Detroit's west side. Five people have been injured, according to Detroit EMS. An ambulance hit a utility pole near Schaefer Highway and McNichols Road. Power lines are down across the vehicle.

Nearby, SkyFOX shows another vehicle that appears to be part of the same accident. It is not clear at this time if the ambulance was attempting to respond to the other accident, or why the ambulance crash happened. The five people that were injured are two EMTs, a patient being transported and two people in the other car.

The extent of their injuries is not known at this time.

A crew is on scene working to repair the power lines.
