Amid Detroit Lions success, local salon will dye your hair Honolulu Blue

The Detroit Lions historic season is inspiring more than Jared Goff chants and Aidan Hutchinson-themed Halloween decorations.

A metro Detroit hair salon is now offering a new kind of dye that is perfect for the season. Lions fans will recognize the iconic color as Honolulu Blue.

What we know:

Dynfly is offering a special on blue hair dye at any of its locations over the next few weeks. The shade that is available matches the same blue that colors the Detroit Lions' home jersey.

The salon's founder said his business is doing "everything and anything" to enjoy the football team's success, including creating the iconic Honolulu Blue color.

"We had to make the blue, instead of just taking one bottle and pouring it - it doesn’t work like that," said George Nikolaj. "You have to make the perfect Honolulu blue on what you have to work with."

Big picture view:

The Detroit Lions play their first playoff game at home this season, taking on the Washington Commanders in the divisional round of the tournament at Ford Field next weekend.

After an historic season, many fans are finding additional ways to celebrate their team. One bakery has turned Amon-Ra St. Brown's touchdown celebration into a cake while another fan wants to rename a street in Royal Oak after Dan Campbell.

But for some fans, this has been a lifetime in the making - both old and young. Cameron Smith, a 13-year-old, spent his day at the salon getting his hair dyed blue.

"(I'm doing it) because I love the Lions," said Smith.

Local perspective:

According to its owner, the promo will run until the Super Bowl. Appointments can be made at any of their six locations, which are listed on their website.

Kids under 12 can get their hair dyed for $30 while men and women can have their hair dyed for $70. A portion will be allocated to charity.

"We're going to keep pushing it til our big game," said Nikolaj.
