Ann Arbor 18-year-old found dead of gunshot wound
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WJBK) - An 18-year old found dead in Ann Arbor. His body discovered by a maintenance worker at the Pine Lake Village co-op.
Now police are trying to figure out who killed him and why. Flowers and balloons now sit at the end of a quiet path inside the complex as a memorial grows larger for 18-year-old Jordan Klee.
"It's a tragic loss for the Ann Arbor community," said Lt. Matthew Lige. "The mother has been notified, she is in mourning. The circumstances that led to the death, we don't know yet."
Ann Arbor police say 3 p.m. Tuesday a maintenance worker noticed Klee lying on the path near Adrienne Drive. And when he got closer, he noticed the teen, lying on his back, was in a pool of blood.
An autopsy revealed he died of a single gunshot wound. Police are investigating Klee's death as a homicide.
"We have reports from residents that they heard what they thought was a gunshot," Lige said. "The sound didn't cause anyone to dial 911, we weren't alerted until an hour later."
Ann Arbor police say Klee although recently, not regularly attending school, had been enrolled as a senior at Pioneer High School and had been living alone inside this complex.
"There's not a lot of traffic, not a lot of people walking around, not a lot of vehicle traffic," Lige said. "It is not surprising it took us about an hour."
As Klee's mother is too distraught to speak Wednesday, Ann Arbor police say they're working several leads vowing to find the person who took this young man's life.
"We are working various motives what led to his untimely, tragic death," Lige said. "Right now, we just don't know."
