Annual Hoedown country music festival leaving Detroit for suburbs

(WJBK) - The country music festival long known as the Downtown Hoedown is leaving Detroit for the suburbs.

The event is now being called the WYCD Hoedown and is condensed down to a one-day event. It will be Sunday, July 31 at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston.

The venue is the third home in five years for the event, which was held for three decades at downtown Detroit's Hart Plaza along the Detroit River before moving in 2012 to Comerica Park and then last year to Detroit's new West Riverfront Park.

Some big names will take the stage this year. Country music stars Brad Paisley, Chris Young and Brandy Clark will headline. The Hoedown will also feature performances by Drew Baldridge, Jordan Rager, Lindsay Ell, Runaway June, Gunnar & the Grizzly Boys, and more to be announced.

Tickets for the hoedown go on sale on April 16. Prices start at $29.
