Attempted robbers who stabbed man with screwdriver arrested

OAKLAND TWP., Mich. (WJBK) - Four people were arrested late Tuesday in connection with a screwdriver stabbing in Oakland Township. Three of the suspects were caught on camera shopping at a gas station moments after allegedly stabbing a 58-year-old man in front of his home.

The victim found two men and two women inside his car and they attacked him with a screwdriver when he confronted them. It happened at 4:30 a.m. on Lyndon Circle in Oakland Township.

"I heard someone screaming help," said Cody, a neighbor. "I looked out the window and I saw four guys, four people, beating this guy up."

Cody heard the commontion then saw the melee but says he couldn't put his clothes on in time to help his neighbor.

"By the time I got outside, the people in the car going down the street already," he said. "And he was in the middle of the cul-de-sac right there. He was bleeding, he was on all fours."

The victim was taken to McLaren Oakland hospital. The suspects got away in a grey Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix. They rummaged through a number of other cars before setting their sights on the victim's sedan.

"My center console was up and everything i keep in there papers my money was all over my driver's seat," said one man who lives in the area, who did not want to be identified.

The resident believes the suspects got in his car too and said a small bottle of cologne was stolen.

Afterward they nearly took a man's life and shattered a  neighborhood's sense of security.

Residents can breathe a bit easier now that those four people are behind bars- no word on when they'll be arraigned. The victim is still recovering at McLaren.

Neighbors say he could be released Wednesday.
