DETROIT (WJBK) - A major clean-up operation at the Detroit Belle Isle aquarium today.
The basement flooded during those heavy rains last week, although none of the animals inside were affected.
But some of the building's famous stone walls suffered heavy water damage.
The aquarium, which has been closed since the damage was discovered, is hoping you can help.
An online relief donation form says:
"On August 16, 2016 - two days before its 112th birthday - staff and volunteers at the Belle Isle Aquarium were participating in a clean-up effort and discovered a substantial flood throughout the Aquarium. Water entered the front koi pond door, came in through the walls on one side, and up the sewer drains in the old bathroom and boiler room. We are bringing in a flood recovery team to assist us in in lowering humidity levels, drying things out, venting, bleach-treating all affected areas, and cleaning the basement, where evidence of water levels reached 2 feet from the ground."
