Police found a body in the bed of a pickup truck after the driver hit another vehicle Thursday afternoon in Roseville.
"Pretty troubling to see," said Roseville Police Deputy Chief Robert Gudenau.
The driver fled the scene after the minor rear-end crash on Common and Hayes, near the Warren border. That's when the body was found, police said.
"They checked the pickup truck for information. When they opened the bed of the pickup truck they found a deceased person," Chief Ryan Monroe said. "We believe it was just a regular rear-end traffic crash. We don't believe at this time that the deceased has anything to do with the accident. We think the body was already in the back of the truck."
Monroe said police think they know who the driver was, but they are still searching for him.
Investigators are working to figure out how the victim in the truck bed died and how they ended up there.
