Two arrested after body of London Thomas found in Southfield

Two suspects believed to be involved in London Thomas' disappearance are in custody, according to Michigan State Police.

MSP detectives assisted Detroit police and the FBI with the recovery of a body on April 26 in the city of Southfield. It was later determined to be the missing 17-year-old.

The backstory:

Thomas was last seen on April 5 when her sister dropped her off to visit her 23-year-old boyfriend. She was dropped off at a house on Carlysle Street in Inkster.

The missing teen had not been heard from since.

Police and the FBI searched the boyfriend's home on April 17 looking for answers.

"They raided the house, his house, and nothing was found. That was really, truly the last piece of real information I received," her mother, Jasma Bennett, said.

Police made no arrests at that time.

"Terror, just a horrible, horrible nightmare," Bennett said.

Members of the community have also searched near Cooper Upper Elementary in Westland where Thomas' cell phone last pinged. Nothing was found there, either.

What's next:

"Our condolences go out to the family and friends of London," said MSP Lt. Mike Shaw. "While a majority of the investigation has been completed by DPD and the FBI, there is still work to do. Our number one goal is to bring justice for London and her family. In order to accomplish this goal, we will not be releasing any further information on this investigation at this time."

The investigation is ongoing. Once completed, the investigation will be given to the Wayne County prosecutor for review.

MSP is the lead agency in the investigation.
