Authorities are working to determine what led to the crash that killed a boy crossing the street with his bicycle in Warren. The crash happened Wednesday evening and police didn't know his name for several hours, as he had no ID or cell phone on him.

Police say they have identified the teen now, and have been in contact with his family, but are not yet releasing his name.

It was dark and rainy out when the driver of a red Camaro hit the bicyclist along Nine Mile Road, near Weller Avenue. That's between Schoenherr Road and Hayes Avenue. We're told the driver immediately stopped and so did one other witness.

"I rushed to the scene to see if he was still alive; no response. Checked for a pulse; there was no response," the witness told FOX 2. He did not wish to be identified. "It's very sad, very sad that people got to drive that fast down a main road like that, to hit a young kid."

At least that one witness believes the driver was speeding at the time of impact. Police are working to see if that was the case. At this time, police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

It is unclear at this time if the driver will face charges.
