Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops announce merger

(WJBK) - Two major American outdoor companies have announced they will merge Monday to better serve outdoor enthusiasts.

Bass Pro Shops will acquire Cabela's for $65.50 per share in cash -- making this a $5.5 billion deal.

Founded in 1961, Cabela's currently has three locations in Michigan with a fourth planned in Chesterfield Township.

Bass Pro Shops has a location at Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills.

It's not clear if the marriage of the two hunting and fishing companies would result in any store closures.
