Car accident kills 4 on Detroit's east side

Detroit police are investigating an accident that has taken the lives of four people. 

The accident happened near 7 mile and Stotter Street Saturday night police say. 

According to police, a Jeep Cherokee with five people inside struck a cement post and then caught on fire. By the time rescue crews arrived on-scene, it was already too late. 

Police say there were five people inside of the car, four of them died. The person who did survive is a local hospital in serious condition. All of the identities of the victims are not being released at this time pending family notifications. 

The cause of the crash is not known and it is unclear whether or not drugs or alcohol played a factor.
