Court confession: Man tells how he killed woman and her child, 4

A man accused of killing a Detroit woman and her 4-year-old daughter suddenly takes a plea deal.

Marcus Hightower, 34, was forced to tell the court exactly how he committed the crime.

The Detroit man entered a plea, with a disturbing confession Tuesday.

Judge: "Mr. Hightower, what makes you guilty of these crimes?"

"I stabbed Heidi in the neck twice and she died," he said. "I suffocated Savannah Walker until she passed away."

Heidi Walker, 39, and her daughter Savannah were discovered dead in a burned out abandoned house last February on Detroit's east side.

An AMBER Alert was issued when the two went missing from Livingston County. Hightower later turned himself in, now confessing to the murders and arson.

"I moved their bodies to a house on Lakeview, then set that house on fire," he said.

The judge accepted Hightower's plea.

As for what's next, the defendant will skip trial and go right to sentencing later this month. He's facing life in prison.
